Snapchat and TikTok's reach in Saudi Arabia makes them a natural destination for ad budget. Treating them identically wastes the budget on one of them.
The difference in intent
Snapchat sits among personal relationships and followed stories, so an ad closer to how ordinary users film performs better. TikTok sits in continuous discovery, so content opening with a scroll-stopping moment wins.
The shared rule: the first two seconds
On both platforms the outcome is decided in the first two seconds. Show the product immediately — no logo, no intro, no build-up music.
Vertical video is not optional
Cropping a horizontal video to fit a vertical screen produces an ad that looks foreign to the feed. Shoot vertical from the start.
Start with the closest audience
Before broad interest targeting, retarget people who visited your store and added to cart without completing. That smaller audience gives the best return and the fastest learning.
Pixel before ads
Do not run a campaign before the pixel is installed and confirmed to record purchase events. A campaign without tracking spends without learning, and the platform cannot optimise toward what it cannot see.
Judge after enough data
Do not switch an ad off after a day. Give it enough budget and time to exit the learning phase, then judge on cost per order, not on view count.
