Most stores start SEO at the end: writing articles before fixing the product and category pages that actually carry purchase intent.
The right order of priorities
- Technical foundation: the store is indexable, free of duplicates, with a valid sitemap.
- Category pages: these target the broadest, most valuable terms.
- Product pages: the most specific terms, closest to purchase.
- Content: comes last, to support the above rather than replace it.
Start by checking what is indexed
Search Google for site:yourdomain.com. If filter pages, internal search results and the cart appear, you are spending crawl budget on pages with no value.
Search intent decides the page type
Someone searching "black abayas" wants a list, not an article — a category page. Someone searching "how to choose an abaya size" wants an explanation — an article. Confusing the two produces a page that satisfies neither.
Duplicate content is the biggest store problem
Copied supplier descriptions, near-identical products across variants, and filter URLs generating copies of the same page. Fix these before thinking about link building.
Expect time, not a miracle
Organic improvement takes weeks to months. Anyone promising the top spot in days is selling something else.
Measure what matters
Ranking alone is an incomplete signal. Watch search visits and the orders that come from them — a ranking that brings no orders was not the right term.
